Mono/mint was founded in the early 2021 in Berlin by two educators and artists, Ivona Pelajic and Fredrik Stjernqvist.
Studio Mono/mint is creating workshops for children and designing playful installations. By using different design tools, Mono/mint aims to develop art concepts with and for children, in order to make neighbourhoods more child-friendly, playful and spontaneous for everyone.
Based in Gothenburg, Sweden.

“... Modern cities are filled with designed environments—parks and playgrounds that leave little room for adventure or challenge. As urbanization spreads, the wild corners of the city disappear, leaving spaces that are extensions of the city’s structure. Yet, the human desire for escape remains, and today’s children often find this escape in nature. It is in this spirit of reclaiming imaginative spaces that »Housing the Fox« was born.
... The urban fox is a reminder of the presence of urban wildlife, and a symbol of adaptability. Above all, the urban fox is a metaphor for the homeless and marginalized, who navigate the overlooked corners of the city.
At its core, »Housing the Fox« aims to foster connections: between children and their environment, the urban and the wild, and discarded objects and their potential. The Housing is a collaborative space that blurs boundaries between public and private, human and animal. It invites reflection on the hidden lives within cities, like the elusive urban fox that inspired it. Through this project, we aim to evoke the magic of unsupervised play in an increasingly controlled world, offering a space for imagination, creativity, and exploration at the edges of urban life.”

Leerolina was a project consisting of workshops with children, co-designing playful public space and installations in Berlin.
LeerOlina was a first project created by Studio Mono/Mint, consisting of several workshops and an exhibition. The name comes from combining two words: Leer (=germ. "empty") and Berolina (=female personification of the city Berlin).
The project took place in spring 2021 in Haus der Statistik, (previously abandoned, now neighbourhood-run building for arts and community projects) in central Berlin. https://hausderstatistik.org/veranstaltung/projekt-leerolina/ (in German).

By putting children in the shoes of urban planners through several tasks in several workshops, packed together with playful and investigative approach, we tried to find out:
- how the children see their neighborhood through their perspective?
- what would they change in their neighborhood?
- how would they design the neighborhood to better fit their needs?
- how would they design the neighborhood to better fit their needs?
In the exhibition they showed the children's process of building scale models for the neighborhood; out of cardboard, textile and other. The final goal was to co-design a playful spatial intervention in the street: a "site-specific" installation near Haus der Statistik in Berlin, one that can be used by everyone and make the neighbourhood more spontaneous and fun.
